Have you wondered about SmartHub, but aren't sure you really have a need for it because you don't pay your bills online? Or you are on auto-pay? Well, let's breakdown some of what's available to you through the desktop and smartphone versions. It's more than just a payment portal!
Beginning on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, SmartHub users will be required to implement multi-factor authorization (aka two-factor authorization) when logging into their account. Why is MFA important? Multi-factor Authorization adds an increased layer of security by adding a second layer, like a biometric scan or hardware token, to further protect your sensitive account information.
Power Usage Alerts
Do you have a seasonal account on our system? A cabin maybe? Or irrigation? Or do you take long vacations? We have a new service you might be interested in. It’s called the Power Usage Alert. You can set high and low alerts, either hourly or daily. This may be helpful if you go on vacation during the winter, but keep the heat on and want to know if everything is working properly. It could alert you to a drop in usage, say to zero meaning something quit working, and you would be able to get the problem taken care of quickly instead of coming home to frozen pipes.
Or maybe you leave the cabin on all summer for friends and family to use. You would be able to set the notifications and see if someone left the air conditioning running after they left.
You can turn the notifications on and off as needed.
All you have to do is sign in to your SmartHub account and go to the Notifications Tab. When you open that tab, there is a Manage Notifications page. Open the Usage section and click on Options (right hand side). This is where you can let your limits for notifications. You’ll have to choose the account and meter that you want to set the notifications for.
My Usage
If you have ever wondered what toll the kids being home for a week, or some friends parking their camper in your yard and plugging in for a few days takes on your electric bill, you can find out through SmartHub! You can see your daily usage by logging in and clicking on My Usage and navigating to the Usage Explorer. As a default it is set to show you the kilowatt hours consumed daily, but you can toggle to have it show you the daily cost, based on our rate. The weather for each day is also plotted on the graph.
You can also pick a specifc date range if you want to see that instead of the whole month. If you have more than one meter you can also toggle between all of your meters.
Under My Usage, you'll also find Average Usage and Comparison tools.
The Comparison tool is advantageous if you want to see "this year vs. last year" or "this month vs. last month" if you have changed appliances or habits at your home.
Contact Us
Through SmartHub you also have the ability to contact us for a myriad of reasons, including being able to report an outage. Remember, SmartHub is available not only on your desktop or laptop computer but also as an app for smartphones and tablets. Instead of having to look up a phone number when the power is out, you can report your outage right through the app.
You can also contact us for other reasons as well. Maybe you have one of our dusk-to-dawn lights and it needs to be repaired. You can just send a message when it's convenient for you instead of waiting for business hours.
